Funding Your Education

There are many scholarships and grants specifically for students with disabilities that can help you pay for your education at PSU. You will find some of those scholarships and grants on this page, along with other financial resources that can help you save money for your education.

Annie Spencer Scholarship (Undergraduate and Graduate)

The Annie Spencer Scholarship is for both full- and part-time students attending PSU. A specific goal of the Annie Spencer Scholarship is to enrich the University's learning environment by attracting and recognizing outstanding students from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Eligibility requirements: Applicants will be asked to provide current documentation (within the last 3 years) of a diagnosed disability by a qualified professional. Documentation will be verified through the Disability Resource Center and will be considered confidential. Recipients must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Graduating high school seniors and others with less than 30 college credits must have a high school GPA of at least 2.75; students with 30 or more college credits must have a cumulative college GPA of at least 2.50. All applicants must meet regular admissions requirements. Priority is given to Oregon residents with high financial need.

David and Linda Smeltzer Endowed Memorial Scholarship (Undergraduate and Graduate)

The purpose of the David and Linda Smeltzer Scholarship is to attract outstanding students who use wheelchairs for mobility. These are students who contribute to the campus learning environment by sharing their unique strengths and diverse perspectives through their involvement in on-campus activities and participation in community service.

Eligibility requirements: High-school graduates who have been admitted to PSU, and Undergraduate students with a 2.50 college-level GPA; Graduate and Post-Baccalaureate students with a 3.00 college-level GPA. Priority is given to Oregon residents.

Diversity Enrichment Scholarship (Undergraduate Students)

The purpose of the Diversity Enrichment Scholarship is to expand and enrich Portland State's learning community by recognizing and supporting outstanding students from first-generation and various cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, with diverse talents, interests, and life experiences.

Robert and Rosemary Low Memorial Award (Graduate Students)

The Robert and Rosemary Low Memorial Award, the gift of the Estate of Robert and Rosemary Low, was established to give special recognition to academically qualified graduate students with physical disabilities.

The recipient is determined by a committee on the basis of scholarship, academic potential, and financial need. The amount of the award varies according to the amount available.

Oregon Grants and Funding

  • . The Oregon Tribal Student Grant program was established to provide grants to eligible Oregon tribal students to offset the cost of attendance for attending eligible Oregon colleges and universities.

  • °¿°ù±ð²µ´Ç²ÔÌý helps current or former foster care youth with postsecondary education and training.
  • provides funding for undergraduate tuition at in-state residency rates, certain fees, and a book allowance at eligible Oregon post-secondary institutions for current Oregon National Guard Members.
  • The (ORSAA) is an alternative to the FAFSA for undocumented Oregon students, including students who have Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status or Temporary Protected Status (TPS).
