A post-baccalaureate student is a student who has previously completed a Bachelor’s Degree at PSU or another accredited university and is returning to continue their studies to complete requirements for a second bachelor's degree, certificate or complete requirements for a graduate program.
If the second degree is the same degree type as the student's first major no additional courses are required. If the second degree differs in type from their first degree (ex. Bachelor of Arts is sought and Bachelor of Music is the first degree) the student must complete requirements for the new degree. ÌýCourses completed at their previous institution may be used to satisfy the requirements for the new degree type.ÌýOften this means that the student is earning a second degree by completing a new major that is different from their first degree.
Earning a post-bac degree involves completing the major requirements for the major of choice, as well as completing degree requirements for a BA, BS, BFA, or BM, depending on the post-bac major. ÌýThe degree requirements can be met using coursework from the first degree, and the student should work with their advisor to have those credits evaluated to meet those requirements.
Post-bac students new to PSU will need to complete a minimum of 45 credits at PSU. Post-bac students whose first degree was from PSU will need a minimum of 36 credits. Ìý

Advising Support
The TRSRC advisors do not advise students on their major requirements, so if students have questions specific to their post-bac major, they should connect with their Pathway Advisor or faculty advisor for their program.
